Description

A wooden case with two copper alloy hinges and a key lock. A cylindrical pillar stands on a tripod with hinged legs. The tripod can be unscrewed and inverted so the legs can fold against pillar when stored. A post telescopes from the top of the pillar and the body tube is held by collar on a compass joint on top of the post. The eyepiece pushes into one end of the horizontal body. A collar on the other end holds a bar that supports the stage, a condensing lens and the plano-concave mirror. The bar has a triangular cross section and rack work on one edge allows the stage to be moved up and down for focusing. A tube with the reflector arrangement screws into this end of the body above the stage. The stage is a copper alloy ring and a bracket, consisting of a plate that slides on four vertical posts, to hold specimens is attached by bayonet fitting. The accessories comprise three eyepieces, three Lieberkuhn, stage forceps, a superstage condenser lens that fits on end of the body, a glass disk, a black and white ivory disk, a lens mounted in card and three Cassegrain reflectors. Also present in a compartment in the case are an ivory handled steel pin, an ivory handled scalpel, an ivory pin, additional stage forceps, a wet cell an ivory talc box, six specimens mounted on glass slides, eleven bone sliders, a glass phial, three glass troughs, some specimens wrapped in paper and a number of cards and papers with notes.
