Description

A turned pillar stands on a circular lead weighted base. A compass joint holds a plate that supports the limb and circular stage. There are two pinholes in the plate for stage accessories and the stage has a turntable with a blackened copper alloy face, a milled edge, two knobs for movement and two copper alloy spring clips for specimens. Below the stage a cylindrical post carries a sleeve fitting for a mirror. Above the plate the blackened, cylindrical limb and arm support the binocular body. One of the body tubes is mounted parallel to the limb with the other fitted to one side and fixed with screws. A Wenham prism beam splitter is fitted in a cell at the lower end of the body. The body moves on a rack and pinion for coarse focusing and a mill-edged knob at the top of the limb moves the arm mounting for fine focusing. A bar at the rear of the body is fixed to the eyepiece mountings through slots in the body tubes allowing the tubes to be lengthened or shortened to adjust the inter-ocular distance. The removable eyepieces have blackened caps.
