Description

This copper alloy instrument is carried on a hinge on a folding tripod. The limb is cylindrical and houses a rack and pinion mechanism operated by a mill-edged knob the near the tripod. This raises a bar, with a triangular cross section, from within the limb that carries the monocular body tube on an arm. A knob on the arm adjusts the fine focus. The eyepiece pushes into the top of the body and the objectives screw into the underside of the arm. A sleeve on the limb supports the mechanical stage. A sliding bracket with a bar, to hold slides, fits onto the stage plate. A condenser attaches below the stage by a bayonet fitting. It has a rotating disk with nine apertures and can be racked up and down on its mounting for focusing. A sliding sleeve carries the Plano-concave mirror in a horseshoe mount on the lower part of the limb, the accessories with this microscope are six objectives in cans, an immersion objective lens in a small can, two eyepieces, an achromatic sub stage condenser, three Lieberkühn with dust covers, a stage plate with a bayonet fitting on pins, a specimen chamber on a copper alloy plate, stage forceps, a super stage condenser lens on a steel pin, two dark wells and dark well ring, a blue filter with rotating aperture disk, an accessory bracket, super stage prism, four aperture disks believed to be later additions and a key for the case. The case is mahogany with copper alloy fittings and partially lined inside with dark blue velvet.
