Description

This copper alloy instrument stands on trunnions on a flat tripod foot, inscribed with the maker's name. The binocular body tubes are carried on a rack and pinion on the limb. Coarse focusing is operated by two mill-edged knobs at the rear of the microscope. Fine focusing is by a vertical, mill-edged screw at the front of the body. The inter-ocular distance is adjusted by two knobs near the top of the body that rack the tubes holding the eyepieces in and out of the angled body tubes. The lower end of the body has an internal thread for objectives. The rectangular stage has two dovetailed grooves holding bars on which a bracket for slides is mounted. A rotating disk with five apertures is attached to the underside of the stage. A cylindrical post on the lower part of the limb holds a concaved mirror on an articulated arm.
