Description
Browning polarizing microscope. The curved limb is carried on trunnions on a flat triangular foot. The body moves on a rack and pinion for focusing. An eyepiece with a Nicol prism analyser and marked in degrees, screws into the top of the body. The conical nose has an internal thread for objectives. The circular stage has a rotating plate that is also marked in degrees. A condensing lens screws into the centre of the stage. A bracket below the stage holds a rectangular mirror that can also act as a polarizer. The wooden case also holds a Huygenian eyepiece, two objectives, a Lieberkühn on a carrier, copper alloy forceps and a curved needle on an ebony handle.
