Description
Carte de visite (albumen print mounted on card) of a boy posing with a penny-farthing bicycle, standing full length facing front, taken in a studio. He holds one of the hand-grips of the straight handle-bar, and rests his elbow on the saddle. The base of the clamp used to hold the boy still (a studio accessory that is usually disguised) is visible behind him; a rod visible to the right, in contact with the other side of the handle-bar, is also presumably assisting to steady the rather precarious pose. No identifying or provenance inscription.
