Description
Matt gelatine print of John Russell's pastel drawing of the moon, a print of the same photograph as the woodburytype (12762) used to illustrate E. J. Stone's 1896 article. It accompanies the spare copies of Stone's plate, and was perhaps connected with their production, though it is not a master as it carries less detail than the woodburytype. The dark areas are heavily silver tarnished. The photograph was taken by E. E. McClellan, an assistant at the Radcliffe Observatory, in 1895.
