Description
Gelatine glass negative, full plate (approximately 8½ by 6½ inches), of Russell's pastel drawing of the moon (1795), taken in the Radcliffe Observatory library for use in E. J. Stone's 1896 article (see 12762). Vertical format. Wrapped in paper bearing a later note [by F. A. Bellamy]. Inscribed near the edge of the emulsion 'Russell's Drawing of the Moon as it was in the Radcliffe Observatory Library about 1895'. Companion of 12767 and 49994, and original of 12762. A modern contact print from the glass negative was made in 1995.
