Description

Three shaped legs stand on a circular foot attached to the top of a square box with a drawer for accessories. The concave mirror is set in a horseshoe mount at the centre of the foot. The spring stage is supported on the legs and holds stage forceps and a bull's-eye lens. The body is covered in red shagreen. The inner draw tube is covered in green vellum, signed in gold lettering and has the focal positions marked. There are turned wood fittings for the lenses and a copper alloy eyecup with a sliding dust cover, at the other end is an objective in a copper alloy cell inscribed with '3'.

The accessories comprise four objectives in brass cells, a spare substage mirror, an ivory black and white disc, a copper alloy live box, ivory talc box and four ivory sliders in a cardboard case.
