Description

Dollond Chest microscope. This copper alloy instrument The microscope stands on a compass joint fixed in the base of the box. The stage can be racked up and down on the square cross sectioned pillar, for focusing, by a double mill-edged knob. It has three wings with a pinhole, a slot and a keyhole slot for accessories. A ring on the end of an arm is fixed to the top of the stand. The body tube drops into the ring. The eyepiece has two lenses and screws to the top of the body. The lower narrow section of the body has an external thread for objectives. A plano-concave mirror is held in a horseshoe mount on a swivelling arm on a sliding sleeve below the stage. The accessories comprise four objectives, a substage cone, a spring stage, a Lieberkühn, a Lieberkühn carrier and copper alloy forceps. The supports in the mahogany box are faced with green felt.
