Transferred from the Dyson Perrins Laboratory in 1998. Part of a collection of material assembled by Sir Ewart Jones and J. C. Smith, in this case coming from the chemist Sir Norman Haworth.

Small card box (overfilled, lid broken) labelled ‘from W. N. Haworth. | Sir William Perkin.’, containing 10 3¼-inch square glass lantern slides, 4 of them re DPL & 6 re Manchester, as follows: portrait of Perkin [jnr – not Sir William]; DPL group portrait [the ?1916 group, as framed 13316]; British Association for the Advancement of Science Canada delegates on board ship, 1884, with names [copy print in DPL album, University Archives]; architect’s view of DPL; & 6 Manchester laboratory plans, elevations, etc.

Haworth was a pupil of W. H. Perkin at Manchester (before Perkin became professor at Oxford), but not himself connected with the DPL.
